Chasing Crabs

One of the favorite activities for the boy cousins at the ocean was crab watching.  After watching them run in and out of their holes, it no longer was crab watching, but crab chasing.  Watching the boys run after them, chasing them into holes or around the sand with shovels and buckets in hand in order to catch them, was delightful to say the least!  They were so excited to catch their first crab and below you can see them all investigating it on Uncle Steve's hand.
Here is a closer look of it.  Just a tiny cute little thing.  After catching this first one, they became intent on catching any they saw.  They had no idea what was coming...
What came next was a crab that is huge, at least I think so.  I don't think I had ever seen one up close before and it creeped me out a bit, but the boys thought it was AWESOME!  They even played with it a bit to try to get it to grab on the shovel.
Below is a picture after the boys let it go into the sand...it must be some sort of protective instinct to make themselves look bigger, but the crab started "blowing bubbles" at us.  He blew them for quite a while getting a bigger and bigger web of bubbles...and then took off on the sand.

What a great adventure for four boys playing at the ocean!

Ok, that crab looks huge! Boys like such weird things! :) But I bet it kept them occupied.
The Splash Pad is right by the elementary school. You can pull in like you're going to the school and there's a drive on the south side that'll take you right back to it.
