It's not "cool" to blog anymore...so "they" say. But I'm doing it anyway...for 2 reasons.
1. I'm a non-conformist and enjoy doing things that aren't the in thing.
2. I'm reading a book by Annie F. Downs called "That's Sounds Fun". I'm still early in the book, but she is talking about doing things just for the fun of it. Not because it is required, or you get paid for it, but simply for the joy of it. Why don't we do that more? Do things just for fun? Anyway...
So I'm going to blog more. Not for the attention. Not because I get paid for it or it is part of my job or school work, but simply because I love to write. It is therapeutic for me. No matter what I am writing about. I'm one of those weird people who enjoyed writing papers in high school, college, and grad school. I just don't take the time to do it when an idea strikes or I have something specific to say. I say that I'm too busy, that there are other things I NEED to do, I want to get a few more minutes sleep. But if I really love writing and it brings me joy???? I need to do that too!
What do you put off because it is frivolous? Or unnecessary? Or isn't bringing in money? Or you aren't perfect at doing? Music? Sports? Hobbies? Running? Painting? Reading? The list could go on and on. Why do we do this? There is so much heavy in this world. There are endless things on the to-do list that is never finished. There will always be something pressing...more important...less fun to do. So why not steal a little joy and fun every now and then?
So there you have it. I'm not cool. Never have been. Gonna own it and have some fun...just for me. You're welcome along the journey if you want...or not. It doesn't bother me either way. I don't always write about "joyful" topics, but I can find joy in the process.
Where's your fun at today? What are you doing to make life fun? Stealing my BFF's line...What sounds fun to you?
**(Disclaimer...I have met Annie F. Downs and adore her...but she doesn't know me from Adam! HA! She also wrote another book that is what inspired me to change careers in my 40s...that was fun for me too.) Her books and podcast bring me joy too...look her up! :)
