Champion Lamb!

Champion Natural Colored Market Lamb!!!!

Brock's 1st year in 4-H...we knew we had a couple of good lambs, but expectations are low as a 1st year member. We were hoping he would just place in the top half of his class...the judge usually selects from the bottom of the class to the top of the class...so as he is pulling lambs in order towards the first place lamb, we got more anxious and more anxious as he kept by-passing Brock's lamb! Finally he put him in 1st place for his class. Brock was thrilled with a blue ribbon. Then we told him he got to show for champion out of his whole breed and he was pumped to say the least. As he showed for champion you could tell he was nervous but he did a great job...mom's stomach was a bit queezy for him. When the judge announced that "Harvey", Brock's lamb had won, Brock didn't even realize it...until mom whooped and clapped. He was so excited for that trophy. We then got to show against all of the other champions in their breeds. The judge said that Brock's would have won overall if it had about 10-15 more pounds on it...a little disappointing to know we were so close, but it turned out for the best. If he had won it all his first year, the rest of his 9 years would be a let-down. He may never win like this again, but he agrees that it was well worth all of the work!

I think they do Kristi...I didn't realize how much I had missed it until this year when we started all over again...now for the next 18 years until all 3 of my kids are out!
